This Topic lists handy tips for using this board after you have registered. If you have a new tip to suggest, or changes to the existing tips, please open a new topic on it in this forum, and then we can add your suggestion to this ongoing list.

There is also extensive information via the "FAQ" link near the top left of this page.

BBCodes
If you want to use formatting, links, etc in your posts, you can use BBCode tags, similar to HTML tags. (You cannot use HTML tags to format your posts.) To see a list of available BBCodes while preparing your post, click on the link on the line at the right, under the smilies, that says "BBCode is ON".

Get notified of activity
If you want to "subscribe" to a forum so that you get notified of any new activity in it, click on the link near the bottom-left of the forum that says "Subscribe forum". (Ignore the tick - it is confusing.) The link will then change to "Unsubscribe forum", which you can click if you no longer want to subscribe to that forum.

If you want to subscribe to just a Topic, then with the topic open, click on the drop-down alongside the spanner icon at the top- or bottom-left of the topic ("Topic Tools"), and choose "Subscribe topic". Similarly to unsubscribe. Note: You are automatically subscribed to your own topic unless you deliberately unsubscribe.

To set how you get notified, you can tailor the settings in the Notifications page of your User Control Panel (UCP). The quickest way to this page is: near the top right of a page, click on Notifications > Settings > (then set each listed situation to either 'Notifications' or 'Email' or both) > Submit
If only a "Notification", you will only see it after you log on and then click on the flagged "Notifications" link near the top right.

To see and manage your overall subscriptions, go to your User Control Panel (UCP) and select "Manage subscriptions" from the left hand column.

Drafts
If you are preparing a post and you want to save the uncompleted draft for completion later, click the "Save draft" button below your draft. To get back to your draft to continue work on it, click on your username near the top-right of the page and select "User Control Panel". Then at the left select "Manage drafts", where you can see a list of your saved drafts. Depending on whether you just want to continue editing, or are close to actually posting, click on "Load draft" or "View/Edit" in the "Saved at" column of the draft.

Edit your Profile
To edit your Profile or other settings, go to the User Control Panel (UCP) by clicking on your username near the top right, then selecting User Control Panel from the dropdown. Be sure to click <Submit> after making any changes.
