Prop. 1 : Peter M.'s proposal (draft) | Prop. 1 : Proposition de Peter M (brouillon) |
I add the text of Peter
Rationale: (per numbered item) 1. Major decisions need a vote in order to indicate and validate the formal decisions of the project. 2. Non-voting on minor decisions is to minimise the amount of voting needed in order to devote more time to the project work and to avoid annoying our members. 3. Per-country voting is in order to show that our decisions and results have international support by countries around the world, and not just by a majority of individual enthusiasts in this group. It also prevents decisions being dominated by a plethora of members from one country. The KarstLink group members from each country are to select and advise us who their voting delegate is, and of course they can lobby that person about their vote. Every member of the group can still post their opinions to the list before the vote. This per-country approach has worked very well for the Survey and Mapping Sub-commission for their various mapping symbols and grades recommendations. 4. A series of votes in the case of multi-alternatives ensures that those who lost their preferred alternative have the opportunity to vote for their next preference. 5. A published register of our decisions is good for our convenience and for international transparency. Frédéric Urien (talk) 10:26, 17 March 2020 (CDT) |
